Biography
Joe Dixon
Joe is currently in his second year of study with a scholarship at the Royal Northern College of Music, learning under Baritone Andrew Heggie.
Throughout his musical career, he has performed in many well-known venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, The Bridgewater Hall, and Snape Maltings, as well as Oslo Opera House and the Grieghallen in Bergen, Norway. His operatic performance experience includes a Chorus part in RVW's "The Pilgrims Progress" with RNCM Opera and Benjamin Britten's "Peter Grimes" With Bergen National Opera. A performance which earned a five-star review, and a place on The Guardian's top ten performances of the year. Aside from solo singing, Joe is also an experienced Choral singer, having been a Chorister at Radley College under Stephen Clarke and taken a Gap Year as a Choral Scholar at Portsmouth Cathedral under David Price. Throughout his choral upbringing, he has had the chance to perform in many Cathedrals and Chapels around UK and Europe including Gloucester, Salisbury, and Peterborough Cathedrals as well as Trinity College Chapel Cambridge, Magdalene College Oxford, and the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø, Norway. He has had the pleasure to sing with notable professional ensembles such as The Tallis Scholars, Edvard Grieg Kor, and the Royal Choral Society. He has also performed alongside notable orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Joe now still regularly sings with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, as well as being involved in multiple other choirs and vocal ensembles, such as Continuum (Dir. Harry Guthrie), MetheraIV (A Male Voice Quartet) whilst also co-managing Somnium Chamber Choir, a choir made up of singers from the University of Manchester and the Royal Northern College of Music. Joe has been a member of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain since the age of 17, and has worked his way up to holding key positions in the flagship National Youth Choir and the National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain. When Joe isn't singing, you can usually find him either composing in his bedroom, outside practicing photography or relaxing in the pub enjoying a scotch with his friends.
